How To add Floating Facebook Like, Retweet and Stumble Upon Counter to Blogger?

jQuery Popup For Facebook LikeBox - How to add a first time Visit popup facebook like page

This widget pops up a jQuery window containing Facebook likebox as soon as a new visitor arrives. This plugin can be added to both Blogger Blogs and Wordpress. I am using here the same jQuery effect introduced by sidhart in JQuery Popup Just Like Aweber Subscription Form. Lightbox effects like this one can be widely seen on many blogs now. It will help you increase your Facebook Fans greatly and our previous version will surely increase the number of your RSS subscribers. In my next tutorials I will make sure to make it more interactive with social media links and a complete version with everything you may need.

I will not be providing a DEMO for this because you can try it live in our HTML Editor to see how it works.

Tip: Copy the code given in step#4 and paste it inside this editor.

How it works?

This popup appears only once to every new visitor. The ip address of the visitor is stored in browser cookie and as the page loads again the widget wont be called again for the same visitor thus eliminating the chances of bugging regular readers. Because of course it will look weird if the popup appears again and again on every pageview. It will appear both on homepage and sub pages depending which page the visitor is accessing. I have set the cookie refresh time to 30 days, which means that this lightbox will appear again for the same visitor after 30 days. We can easily set the number of days to prompt the visitors about your Facebook Fan page. Lets get straight to the one step installation process.

If you want to prompt the likebox every time the visitor enters your blog then simply delete this *30 from the code above.

Download Facebook Messenger App for Windows

Facebook has recently launched a standalone chat application Facebook Messenger for windows OS after releasing it for Android, BlackBerry and iPhone devices. Facebook Messenger lets you to chat with friends without opening Facebook in browser ,similar to Gtalk and Yahoo messenger but with some additional features. In the Facebook Messenger you can chat with your friends, see the live updates in ticker and get quick notifications.

As of now this app doesn’t allow you to chat in group and make video calls to your friends. Limiting chat availability (offline mode) and Edit Settings feature is also not available in current version of this app.

How to get it:

Earlier Facebook has released it for only a specific group people for testing purpose. It somehow got leaked on Internet and now Facebook has officially released for public you can download it from this link

Currently this app is only for Window 7 users. Facebook hasn’t launched it for other older version of windows. Mac and Linux users will also have to wait for some time before they get this wonderful app on their PCs.

How to Get Logged In and Logged Out:

To Logout from this Facebook Messenger open homepage of your Facebook Account and logout or just go to your system tray, right click on the Facebook icon and click on the log out button.

Note:- Always make sure you log out from your Facebook Messenger and click on Exit button otherwise if you directly close the App it will minimize into system tray and you will stay logged in.

How to Place Facebook Chat On Firefox Sidebar

Facebook Chat is cool, at least it allows you to send instant messages to online Facebook contacts. However I’m not really a fan of the chat bar being at the bottom of the page, what if I’ve left Facebook but still wants to remain chatting with my Facebook contacts? If you are using Firefox, you can place the Facebook Chat at the sidebar.

Step 1

Look for Bookmarks on the top navigation. Select Organize Bookmarks…

Step 2

Click New Bookmark... tab and enter the following:

Name: Facebook Chat
Location: http://www.facebook.com/presence/popout.php
Check Load this bookmark in sidebar.

Step 3

Launch the Firefox sidebar, click Facebook Chat and start chatting with your Facebook contacts within Firefox.
