>> Minimize apps In Nokia s40 Phones

Good news for all nokia s40 v5 and 6th users. Yup! we can now minimize java applications or send them to background. And can almost run 5 applications at the same time

PROCEDURE:
1] Open the jar application with WinRAR via PC
2] Goto META-INF >>
MANIFEST.MF
3] Edit MANIFEST.MF using notepad and add followings lines.
Nokia-MIDlet-auto-start: no
Nokia-MIDlet-no-exit: true
4] Save it and drop in the same folder
That's it. Now whenever you press red button on your phone instead of closing the application goes to background. eg.
Manifest-Version: 1.0

Mobile java broswers can b used in PC ..that too in full screen ..i.e., opera mini , Bolt

source --> jAVA4ME

Hi,

a new version of OperaMiniLargeDevice (OMLD) for the new Java Platform Micro Edition Software Development Kit 3.0, which is compatible with the new Opera Mini 5, has been published here. OMLD for the older Sun WTK, which is the topic of this post, will stay online, as it is also compatible with Linux and many users have installed this solution already.

Now the original post:

Today I have worked on a solution to make the famous mobile browser Opera Mini run in a big window on the PC. The reason for this is the fast browsing experience on mobile devices with this application and the small amount of traffic it generates during browsing sessions, because the Opera Mini proxy reduces page sizes. So also PC users could benefit from using this browser, especially from version 4 that introduces fullscreen support.

Because Opera Mini is a Java ME application, an emulator is necessary. Therefore, I used the Sun Java Wireless Toolkit with the included MIDP emulator. Then I adapted the preinstalled "QwertyDevice" and made a new emulator device template, the "OperaMiniLargeDevice" (OMLD), with the usable screen size of 1200x705 pixels. I omitted the usual control buttons of the standard emulators to have more space for the browser.

Here are two pictures of what the result looks like.

peraMiniLargeDevice is now available in 4 variants for different screen resolutions. So if you want to test the solution yourself you should follow the next steps:

Requirements:

* Get the Java SE Development Kit (JDK) from here.

* Get the Sun Java Wireless Toolkit 2.5.2 for CLDC from here.

* Get the "OperaMiniLargeDevice" for Sun Java Wireless Toolkit from here.
* Get Opera Mini Browser 4.2 from here. Be sure to download both the JAD and the JAR to the same directory. The generic advanced version is recommended.

* Internet access on the PC

Installation (done for Win XP):

* Install the JDK.

* Install the Wireless Toolkit.

* Unzip your downloaded version of "OperaMiniLargeDevice" (simply extract it, a directory will be created automatically). Copy this directory to Path-to-WTk\wtklib\devices\ . The complete path to OMLD on my machine looks as follows: "C:\WTK2.5.2\wtklib\devices\OperaMiniLargeDevice1024x705".

* Then choose "OperaMiniLargeDevice" as the default device, e.g. via "Start->All Programs->Sun WTK->Default Device Selection".

* Then use "Start->All Programs->Sun WTK->Run MIDP Application" to start Opera Mini via its JAD file.

* The start screen should appear and you should now be able to launch Opera Mini by pressing F2.

Remark:

It might be that you receive the following error on starting Opera Mini:

OTA server emulation started ...
HTTPS server emulation started ...
Error: Reason = 36

The most obvious reason for this error is that the "MIDlet-Jar-URL" in the JAD does not point to the right JAR file. Try to open the JAD with a text editor, locate the property "MIDlet-Jar-URL" and make sure that ONLY the filename of the JAR is left in this entry, e.g. MIDlet-Jar-URL: opera-mini-4.2.13918-advanced-de.jar . You must not use a complete URL to the JAR in the web. And do not forget to put the JAD and the JAR in the same directory.

Navigation:

You can set the link focus and scroll through a site with ARROW keys. The ENTER key selects an action, e.g. a text field. Texts can be entered with the normal keyboard keys. You can copy from and paste text into text fields by pressing STRG+c and STRG+v. The keys F1 and F2 control the menu actions of Opera Mini and the emulator, e.g. security questions for internet access. Since version 0.5 you can use your mouse to control Opera Mini and to click on links.

Hope you find this solution helpful. Any tips to improve this solution are welcome.

Greetings Makube

PS.:

Update to version 0.6 (see this post):

* Shortcuts in Opera Mini usable
* Speed dial in Opera Mini usable
* Special version for netbooks and UMPCs like the Asus EEE or the HTC Shift available

Update to version 0.5 (Major update):

* Screensize enlarged to 1200 x 705 from 1024x705
* Mouse can be used to control Opera Mini and to click on links
* Escape-key does not accidentially close the emulator anymore

Update to version 0.2:

I updated "OperaMiniLargeDevice" to version 0.2 because the first version triggered annoying keyRepeatEvents on some websites, resulting in not being able to focus links. Therefore the property keyRepeatEvents is now set to false. Happy browsing!

FOR other browser do the same thing ..make u hav d JAd file nd the JAD file has been linked to the jar file i.e open JAD file in notepad nd check for 'MIDLET-jar-URL :' is linked with the JAR file name

How to flash without using a box or by using JAF PKey emulator for ur nokia s40 - very easy

Flashing with J.A.F

here is the tutorial to flash via jaf:

REQUIREMENTS:
  • J.A.F Software pkey emulator.
  • USB data cable.
  • Nokia phone.
WHAT IS THE NEED OF FLASHING?

There are many uses you can keep updated with latest features and you can modify your phone according to your wish.

TYPES OF FLASHING:

There are several types.
  • using J.A.F box and Fbus cables .
  • Nokia software updater(NSU) .
  • phoenix .
  • J.A.F Software with Pkey .
Installation:
  • download J.A.f from Here.
  • get navifirm from here
  • extract that zip archive from above file, you will get J.a.f setup file and a virtual pkey.
  • install j.a.f
warning: many antivirus softwares will show some j.a.f components as virus But just ignore it.
note: windows 7 and vista users must run pkey as administrator and set compatibility as windows xp

Obtaining Firmware(software):
  • open navifirm and select target as ‘product external’.
  • it will display the list of nokia handsets and their RM version.
  • click on your handset name with correct Rm version.
note: you can check rm version by dialling *#0000#
  • next another list will display in release column, select your firmware version.
CAUTION!: download correct firmware version, or even higher version but not lower versions, because by downgrading or flashing with lower versions may cause you phone to dead, but you can revive dead phone too via jaf
  • next comes variant, you can download and flash with any variants of software that doesn’t matter, but if you want exact variant, than open your phone’s back cover, remove battery under that you will find code like this 0559107(phone specific).
  • next firmware contents will be displayed download only these files.
  • .mcu
  • .cnt or .image
  • .ppm
About firmware components:
  • .mcu this is the largest one among firmware files,it contains all program data of firmware, some versions of j.a.f wont detect .mcu then just rename it to .c0r (c zero r).
  • .image all gallery elements such as tones, wallpapers, default games, apps are included in this file.
  • .ppm this is the most important one,it contains all tones such as keypad tone, recording beep, menu icons etc.we can change every element of this file, firmware modification is possible.
Preparation:
“flashing is the process of upgrading, downgrading* and reinstalling phones firmware or software”
  • open pkey, then run J.a.f, keep pkey opened don’t close it just minimize it.
  • go to bb5 column.
  • check the following there.
    a)manual flash
    b)Factory set
    c)normal mode
  • 4)then click on mcu, browse to folder where you downloaded mcu and select it(if jaf wont detects mcu file then rename it to .c0r then re try).
  • 5)like that select ppm ant .cnt or .image files.
  • 6)connect your phone with the help of usb data cable,in PC suite mode.
  • 7)before flashing make sure your phone battery has enough charge,i recommend connecting to charger while flashing.
note: make sure you have closed all softwares related to Nokia like PC suite, phoenix etc exit PC suite from system tray also.
*Downgrading is not possible on all phones, it depends on firmware, it’s not recommended.

Flashing:

after doing these steps, then click on flash button, you will get two warnings, just ignore them, don’t touch your phone till j.a.f says “done!”.
thats it you have flashed your phone .

Dead flashing:

1)same as flashing, just tick ,dead flash at bb5 coloumn in jaf
2)it is necessary to connect charger now, click on flash
3)press power button when prompted by jaf
